Every switch,surface by surface.
The 3-card strip on /how-it-works compresses the model to fit. This page unstacks it — every Roostr automation, listed alongside what Automatic does on its own, what Manual looks like when the host holds the call, and exactly where to flip the switch.
Defaults
What ships on day one.
Every Roostr workspace starts in Manual for anything that touches money, guest refunds, or new listings — and Automatic for the high-frequency operational work where the routine is well-understood and the action is reversible. The per-surface defaults follow that line exactly; the host can flip any one of them the moment they want a different posture.
On install, every workspace starts in Manual for anything that touches money.
The pricing agent still walks comps and the local events calendar — it just stages the change on a tap-or-skip card instead of pushing it live. Turn that surface to Automatic the moment you trust the comps.
Confidence thresholds
When the inbox auto-sends — and when it doesn't.
Every inbox reply the agent drafts gets a confidence score. The score drives three tiers — auto-send, draft-and-queue, or hand back to the host — and the cutoffs are the same public numbers we ship in the codebase so the badge and the reasoning drawer can't drift apart on the same row.
Auto-send
A factual, pre-approved category — check-in window, Wi-Fi, parking, door code, pet fee — and the model is highly sure of the answer. The reply goes out inside host-set policy and tone. The host sees it in the activity log.
Draft + queue
The reply looks right but the model isn't sure enough to put it on the wire alone. We draft it in the host's tone and stage it in /dashboard/suggestions for one-tap sign-off.
Host hand-off
Refunds, complaints, schedule changes, and anything the model reads as ambiguous lands in the host's inbox untouched. No draft is generated — the host writes the reply.
These thresholds apply to the Guest replies row above. The other three surfaces — Pricing, Turnovers, Maintenance — never send silently. They're pinned to the host's auto/manual switch.
The map
The four automations, row by row.
Each row is one of the four jobs on the crew — what Automatic runs on its own, what Manual looks like when the host holds the call, and the screen the host opens to flip the switch.
| Automation | Automaticapplies | Manualqueues | Host override |
|---|---|---|---|
Pricing Default · Auto | Auto Rewrites the next 90 days of nightly rates against fresh comps and the local events calendar — logged with the comps and events that moved each rate. | Manual Drafts a recommended change and parks it on a tap-or-skip card; nothing goes live until the host sees the comps and approves. | Settings → Automation → Pricing → Auto ↔ Manual |
Guest replies Default · Manual | Auto Sends factual replies on its own — door code, Wi-Fi, parking, pet fee — inside the host-set policy and tone. | Manual Refunds, complaints, and schedule changes always queue for the host’s sign-off in /dashboard/suggestions. | Settings → Automation → Inbox → Auto-send categories |
Turnovers Default · Auto | Auto Dispatches the nearest vetted cleaner the second a checkout lands — verification photo on completion, no spreadsheet. | Manual Holds a brief for the host to send; no Roostr-managed marketplace, the contractor relationship stays yours. | Settings → Automation → Turnover → Dispatch on checkout |
Maintenance Default · Manual | Auto Accepts the fix recommendation when the signal crosses the pre-flag threshold (slow drain, scuffed countertop, AC fatigue). | Manual Queues a review-for-ticket suggestion in /dashboard/suggestions for every pre-flag signal below that threshold. | Settings → Automation → Maintenance → Pretriage threshold |
Flip from settings
One switch per surface, flipped in one tap.
Open Settings → Automation and each of the four surfaces gets its own Auto/Manual switch — independent, reversible from the activity log, and live the moment the toggle flips. No re-onboarding, no support ticket, no second workspace.
Settings → Automation → <surface>
Pricing, Guest replies, Turnovers, Maintenance — each has its own switch.
Tip — flip Guest replies first while you watch the activity log, then turn Pricing to Auto once the comps feel familiar. Turnovers and Maintenance default to Manual for most workspaces.
Reviewable
Suggestions stay reviewable in /dashboard/suggestions.
Every Manual-mode action lands in one unified feed — the pricing agent's rate suggestions, the inbox agent's escalations, and the maintenance agent's queue-for-ticket notices. The host sees the reasoning behind each one and applies or skips it in a tap.
The tap-or-skip feed
One row per pending recommendation, grouped by source agent.
Pricing
Rate change drafts, with comps and the event that moved it.
Inbox
Refunds, complaints, and schedule changes queued for sign-off.
Maintenance
Pre-flag signals below the dispatch threshold, waiting on a ticket.
